Despite its abundant use, it is a complex medium to control, resulting in high operating costs. In an unmonitored installation, as much as 90% of the losses in heat generation and distribution can be linked to leaks. Compressed air costs can be contained by regularly analysing energy requirements and through technological monitoring. This applies to all new compressed air system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"type-numerotation\"><span class=\"type-numerotation-span visually-hidden\"><\/span>Defining the requirements for the installation of a new compressed air system<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analysis of the current situation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Determine the parameters of the existing installation, e.g. age, general condition, pressure level, minimum and maximum flow rate, energy consumption and associated costs, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analysis of compressed air requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Given the considerable cost of using compressed air, it is recommended that, before any modifications are made, to determine whether compressed air is indeed the most suitable method for carrying out this task.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identification of the main characteristics of the compressed air consumption requirement, e.g. pressure level, flow rate, humidity, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce network pressure as far as possible, according to the compressed air requirements (temporary reduction possible depending on requirements)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identification and elimination of potential leaks in the existing system. This will allow a more accurate estimate of compressed air requirements and avoid over-sizing the new installation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is it necessary to replace the installation, or is it perhaps sufficient to <a href=\"https:\/\/klimapaktfirbetriber.lu\/en\/measures\/optimising-compressed-air-system-management-in-the-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"mesures\" data-id=\"1229\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">optimise the installation<\/a>?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-light-green-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><strong><strong>Taking your compressed air system installation project one step further<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>The main tasks of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oai.lu\/fr\/9\/topmenu\/annuaire-membres\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.oai.lu\/fr\/9\/topmenu\/annuaire-membres\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">consulting engineering office (specialised in technical engineering)<\/a> in the context of the creation of a new compressed air system are as follows:<\/strong><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>identification of requirements based on the current situation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identification of potential end users for the wasted heat, e.g. pre-heating of domestic hot water or space heating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"type-numerotation\"><span class=\"type-numerotation-span visually-hidden\"><\/span>Identify the appropriate compressed air installation to suit the particular purpose.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Definition of the solution adapted to the needs and the specific application<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Based on the needs analysis, define the solution in collaboration with a supplier or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oai.lu\/fr\/9\/topmenu\/annuaire-membres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">consulting engineering office (specialised technical consultant).<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition to the primary requirement, consider heat recovery, the installation of measuring points to monitor the installation and the compatibility of the existing network with the new compressor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>Evaluate other measures to improve system efficiency:<\/strong><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Automatic shutdown of the compressed air network outside operating hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation of pressure-reducing valves upstream of consumers with low pressure requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disconnection of consumers using magnetic valves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renewing the system is an ideal opportunity to check whether it is possible to utilise the waste heat. The recovered heat could, for instance, be used to heat domestic hot water or rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>Verification of operating permits for the project<\/strong><\/strong><br>Where existing installations are to be adapted, and especially when setting up new installations, check the nomenclature of classified establishments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Drawing up specifications and requesting tenders<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"type-numerotation\"><span class=\"type-numerotation-span visually-hidden\"><\/span>Subsidy application<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Government subsidies<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-light-green-background-color has-background\"><strong>Please note: any application for government or non-government subsidies must comply with the &#8220;incentive effect&#8221;, subject to compliance with the subsidy conditions.<\/strong><br>In order to respect the &#8220;incentive effect&#8221;, no binding commitment (signing a quotation; paying a deposit) may be made BEFORE having received the agreement in principle from the government or the electricity and natural gas supplier following an application for subsidy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guichet.public.lu\/en\/entreprises\/financement-aides\/regime-fit-4\/fit-4-sustainability.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/guichet.public.lu\/en\/entreprises\/financement-aides\/regime-fit-4\/fit-4-sustainability.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Fit 4 Sustainability programme<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fit 4 Sustainability programme provides co-financing for environmental audits and action plans on one or more topics selected by the company (energy, GHG, waste, water, etc.).<br>Aid of up to <strong>60%, 70% and 80%, depending on the size of the company<\/strong>, for the fees associated with carrying out an environmental study (energy audit and\/or carbon footprint assessment) and a detailed, costed action plan to reduce its consumption\/GHG emissions (medium- and long-term investments, ROI, etc.) \u2013 open to SMEs and large companies (except those that must carry out studies required by the environmental authorities, including mandatory energy audits)<br>For questions: <a href=\"fit4sustainability@luxinnovation.lu\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"fit4sustainability@luxinnovation.lu\">Luxinnovation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/guichet.public.lu\/en\/entreprises\/financement-aides\/regime-sme-packages\/soutien-pme\/sme-packages-sustainability.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SME Packages &#8211; Sustainability<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial Aid for small and medium-sized enterprises covering up to 70% of eligible costs for the implementation of a project aimed at reducing the environmental impact. Since then, energy suppliers have been offering support and advice services as well as subsidy programmes for consumers to implement energy efficiency measures.<br>The following suppliers offer this project to be eligible, it must meet at least one of the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the energy efficiency of a production process<\/li>\n<li>Improve the material efficiency of a production process<\/li>\n<li>Decarbonise a production process<\/li>\n<li>Reduce air pollution at the production site (excluding CO2 emissions)<\/li>\n<li>Produce or store renewable energy for self-consumption<\/li>\n<li>Promote the extended use of products through reuse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For certain objectives, minimum thresholds must be met.<br \/>\nTo verify your eligibility and ensure that these thresholds are satisfied, it is recommended that the impact of the measure on one of the above conditions be certified by an expert or a design office.<\/p>\n<p>Further details and
