On average, water consumption per office employee is around:

• 30 to 40 l/day/employee
• 4 l/m² of office space

These parameters are obviously highly dependent on the company’s business line, the facilities in the building and employee behaviour. Optimising water use in a building contributes to the environmental, economic and functional sustainability of buildings.

Questions to ask yourself before starting your project

• What is your current level of water consumption?
• What are the main uses of water in your facility?
• Are there individual meters installed for each type of water use?
• Are there alarms in case of leaks or abnormally high water usage?
• How does occupant behaviour impact overall water consumption?
