On average, water consumption per office employee is around:

• 30 to 40 l/day/employee
• 4 l/m² of office space

These parameters are obviously highly dependent on the company’s business line, the facilities in the building and employee behaviour. Optimising water use in a building contributes to the environmental, economic and functional sustainability of buildings.

Questions to ask yourself before starting your project

1. What is your current level of water consumption?
2. What are the main uses of water in your facility?
3. Are there individual meters installed for each type of water use?
4. Are there alarms in case of leaks or abnormally high water usage?
5. How does occupant behaviour impact overall water consumption?
